Colour Vision
Colour vision is the ability of the visual system to recognise colours. Sensory cells, the cones, are responsible for colour perception. Eight percent of men and one percent of women are affected by a red-green colour vision deficiency, which can be congenital or acquired. Often this deficiency goes unnoticed because it has existed since birth. However, misidentifying colours can have unpleasant consequences, which is why aptitude tests on the extent of colour vision deficiency are mandatory for police officers, pilots and professional drivers.
For this we use the anomaloscope in our practice, with which the test subjects mix the spectral colours red and green to yellow. So-called pigment plates are also used.
Night vision
Almost 300,000 road accidents per year are caused by poor vision. From the age of 40 our visual acuity at dusk and in darkness decreases. At the same time, sensitivity to glare increases, which becomes really dangerous on wet roads and when dazzled by the headlights of oncoming vehicles. Sometimes night myopia is also present. We test your twilight and contrast vision with and without glare.
